Our classes follow the curriculum of Learn To Skate USA, ensuring a comprehensive approach to mastering the fundamentals of skating. Within this curriculum, beginners start with Snowplow (tots) and progress through Basic 1 and Basic 2 levels.
For hockey enthusiasts, the journey continues after Basic 2, as they advance through Hockey levels 1 to 4. \
Meanwhile, aspiring figure skaters delve further into their skating journey with Basic 3-6, and then navigate through Freeskate levels 1 to 6.
Here at our facility, we cater to skaters of all skill levels, empowering them with the foundational techniques needed to achieve their skating goals.
The ice rink exudes a refreshing coolness, both figuratively and literally. Optimal attire would comprise of lighter layers instead of thick ones, allowing for easy adjustment as you warm up during your active time on the rink. It is advisable to don thin, tall socks, such as dress socks, as they minimize movement within the boot and reduce the likelihood of developing blisters.
We highly recommend wearing helmets to protect your head! For your convenience, we provide free helmet rentals during your class or public skating sessions. You can find them conveniently located on the wall near the primary entrance of the NHL (Main) rink.
Our skating school provides complimentary rental skates, but having your own skates is highly recommended for optimal support and rapid skill development. By purchasing skates through our program, you can save money with a 5% discount and enjoy the added convenience of free setup services. These services include proper fitting (remember, it’s different from shoe sizing!), boot adjustment for comfort, and initial sharpening. For intermediate-level skates, these included services alone can save you more than $80 in setup fees! We strive to maintain a 10:1 ratio of students to coaches, with 5:1 for snowplow/tots. When classes have additional students, we supplement with junior coaches to assist the class. Classes of 4 or fewer may be combined with other levels.
Private and booster lessons offer an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills and progress to the next level. Whether you need help mastering a specific skill or crafting a skating routine for an exhibition or Compete USA event, these lessons are tailored to meet your individual needs. Skaters in Basic 6 and below are encouraged to enroll in the Skating School to develop their foundational skills before transitioning to private lessons. We firmly believe that group lessons provide an affordable and effective means of mastering the fundamentals of skating, setting the stage for a successful transition to a private lesson regimen.
Program Policies
Welcome to Axel’s Skating School! Our monthly renewal cycle makes it easy for you to continue enjoying our classes. Just provide us with a credit card on file for hassle-free auto-renewal each month.
The best part? Your renewal date will always be the same day that you joined. So, if you join on May 15th, you can expect your automatic renewal to happen on the 15th of every month.
We understand that life can get busy and sometimes payments can slip through the cracks. That’s why we offer a grace period of 5 days or until your next class (whichever comes first) to correct any late payments. However, please note that skaters with an outstanding balance will not be able to participate in class.
If your payment is more than 5 days late, a $10 late fee will be applied. And if it’s more than 15 days late, unfortunately, your account will be canceled, along with your annual registration.
Going on vacation this summer? No problem at all! With our membership pausing feature, you can take a break for up to 3 months within a 12 month period. Simply pause your monthly membership for the entire month, and you’re good to go! Please note that classes, makeup classes and public skating passes won’t be valid during the paused month(s).
Pause periods are effective for billing cycle periods, not full/individual months. Example if your billing cycle renews on the 15th, your pause will be 15th to the 15th of the month. You are welcome to end your pause early, which would restart your billing cycle as of the new date.

Can’t attend a class? No worries! Our makeup classes are here to save the day. If you’re unable to make it to a class, just fill out our missed class form before or on the day of your absence. You’ll have a generous 30 days to reschedule it. Please keep in mind that you must have a valid membership to take advantage of the makeup class. If you ever decide to cancel your membership, don’t forget to use your makeup class before your cancellation date. We want to make sure you get the most out of your membership! Just a heads up, we do have a limit of 6 makeup classes per calendar year. Our makeup classes are subject to availability on your alternate class day, so make sure to check for availability. Oh, and one more thing – if you’re already enjoying the benefits of taking 2 classes a week, you won’t be eligible for makeup classes. We don’t have an alternate day for you to make up a class.
